WHAT IS COACHING?

Coaching is when a person works with a trained professional coach in what the International Federation of Coaching describes as a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential. 

Working together, the coach helps the person set goals and make progress towards these, identify behaviours, skills and strengths and explore perceptions and beliefs.

​With coaching you will learn to ask yourself the right questions and you will discover the power of creating insights to raise awareness and resolve issues.

Working with a coach can give you forward momentum and can energise your actions as the process of coaching often unlocks previously untapped sources of imagination, productivity and leadership.

HOW DOES COACHING COMPARE TO TRAINING, COUNsELLING AND MENTORING? 

They have different purposes and approaches.

 

Training is about teaching specific skills, knowledge and competencies. 

 

Counseling is a form of psychological support that helps individuals address more complex behavioural issues that go beyond coaching. 

 

Mentoring involves a more experienced individual (the mentor) providing guidance, advice, and support to a less experienced individual (the mentee). Mentors often provide career advice, share their experiences, and help their mentees develop their skills and knowledge.
